flea market finds

this past weekend was my first visit to the rose bowl flea market, and it definitely will not be my last!! i got quite a bit of stuff that i am really excited about, so i thought i'd share it on the interwebs.

i ran out of moo-lah real fast due to most vendors dealing in cash only, but now i know for next time. i also picked up cards from some stands that were definitely worth checking out. we only made it through a small part of the market. just as the ticket says, its "the greatest flea market on earth" for its shear size.
a touch of glass is the contact info for the woman who makes the painted and lit bottles from the first photo in this post.

medusa locks #2

most people straighten their hair these days, and everyone tends to buy the same flat irons. there are quite  few that are coveted. i myself used to be all about the CHI flat irons, then Sedu. however, last november i was in NY and got sucked into buying this Thairapy365 from Bendels. long story short, its an amazing flat iron and has made a great difference in the crazy split ends i usually get. plus, it makes awesome curls too!

glitter is the herpes of craft supplies (but i love it anyways)

i love pumpkin carving because i am really weird and enjoy squishing the pumpkin guts in between my fingers. however, last year i ended up carving an already rotten pumpkin and just ewww. this year, after my introduction to pinterest and a lovely suggestion by a friend, i ended up glittering a pumpkin instead. new favorite halloween decoration.

check out my pumpkin below:

its super fast and easy to do!! put glue on the pumpkin and pour on the glitter.
this is halloween! this is halloween!

Dave's Chillin & Grillin.....Yummm

i love, love, love food. here's another recommendation of some of LA's best eats. this isn't one of those places that everyone knows about, unless you go to Occidental College or live in the Eagle Rock area. but if you are looking for an amazing sandwich, Dave's is the place to go. my favorite (see pic below) is the grilled cheese and hummus on rosemary bread. want another one just looking at this photo. #fatgirlproblems

no self control #3: lustful for...

this is something that i have been lusting after for a while. i was at Sephora a couple weeks ago, and it was sold out. so when i was there rather recently, i had to pick it up. i haven't even tried or swatched it yet, but since i posted earlier today about all the other bronzers i own, i thought that i should include today as well.

ooops, forgot to mention it comes with a brush. its so pretty, i dont even wanna use it.

overkill: bronze goddess wannabe

according to my mother, i look ill when im not tan. hence the need and compulsion of having multiple bronzers. i used to use MAC's Golden like crazy. but now i've branched out to new and exciting things. below are the bronzers, i currently own. some i love and some i am still on the fence about.

1. Physician's Formula pH Matchmaker Bronzer in Medium- this was an impulse buy after hearing about this bronzer on YouTube. this was a recent purchase and one of the bronzers i still haven't made up mind about yet. the color is nice and doesn't come off orange on my skin, however, the glitter in this are large bits and really noticeable on the skin.

2. NYC Smooth Skin Bronzing Powder in Sunny- this was another YouTube inspired purchase, however, i do really enjoy this bronzer. firstly, it's only $3. secondly, it's a matte bronzer and a nice shade for fairer skin tones. this bronzer i use for both bronzing and contour.

3. tarte Park Avenue Princess (Deluxe Sample)- this came in a set with a mini blush, which is why i got the set in the first place. i ended up liking the bronzer more than the blush, go figure. anyways, in the pan this bronzer looks kinda scary because of all the glitter. when applied to the skin, the bronzer gives a sheen to the skin rather than the edward cullen look.

4. NARS Laguna Bronzer- cult favorite and super hyped in the beauty community. however, i find that i also love this product. in the pan the bronzer is very scary. there is quite a bit of glitter, but the glitter doesn't transfer to the skin and actually leaves a sheen effect. i find that the sheen effect given is not as prominent as that of the tarte bronzer, which leads this bronzer to be my favorite that i currently own.

below are some swatches of the bronzers listed above, in case anyone was wondering what they look like on the skin. however, the swatches are rather heavy and not blended out so the probably won't be super useful. i'm including them anyway.

hey gurrrl, nice shirt

i am trying not to buy clothes, since i have an overflowing closet. however, upon seeing this shirt, it was love at first sight and i had to have it. i am super excited to wear it out next weekend.

PS- it's from Nordstrom bp.

medusa locks

i have crazy hair. curly, but not cute curls more like medusa snakehead (literally). i have tried many different ways to tame it. products, styling tools, and anything else that may work at taming the mop atop my head. recently, i have bought and tried a new hairbrush that i use only when blow drying my hair. it makes my hair extremely low maintenance for styling post-blow dry and allows for me to somewhat blow dry my hair straight. i highly recommend trying this brush. it cuts down on dry and styling time like whoa....

try it!

wasted efforts #2

i have a lot of makeup products due to some obsessive tendencies of my personality. so when i started really getting into makeup, i kinda went a tad bit crazy in buying different products to try. the following products i found that were either difficult to work with or something that i just did not enjoy. these products may work amazingly for you, but these are just my opinions on the product. i enjoy hearing/reading both negative and positive reviews on products, in order to get a better sense of the product itself.

1. Jo Malone Red Roses Cologne- this made the list because i cannot stand the scent. i have a little gift set of Jo Malone fragrances, and i loved every one except this one (and it kills me to say that!). it really was reminiscent of something that i feel like grandmothers would wear and made me a little nauseous when i tested it out.

2. L'Oreal Infallible 24hr Eyeshadow in Iced Latte- these eyeshadows are great. they are creamy and highly pigmented. the reason it made the list is because i find them difficult to work with. the color is super intense, and for some reason i am too retarded to figure out how to make it work. my sister is one to usually wear one color swiped across the lid, and she loves these for that.

3. Revlon Colorstay Longwear Nail Enamel in 020 Pale Cashmere- Revlon nail polishes are some of my favorites, however, this made the list because the shade. it may be because it is so pale, but i dislike how sheer it is on the nail. to make it opaque, i had to layer on over four coats. it became rather gloopy and fell off my nail in chunks when it began to chip.

4. L'Oreal Voluminous Smoldering Eyeliner- this eyeliner is a very intense black and is extremely pigmented. the reason this has been put on this list is because it is marketed as an eyeliner that can easily be smudged for a smokey effect. i found that it was difficult to smudge out and dragged my eye slightly when applying.

5. Urban Decay Supercurl Curling Mascara (Sample)- this mascara did absolutely nothing for my lashes. i found the consistency to be really watery that did not get better with age. its advertised as a curling mascara, which is something that it definitely did not do. this mascara came in a gift set of mascaras that i bought around the holidays from Sephora. there may be a chance that i waited to long to use the product and that is why it didn't work, however, it was never opened until i began to use it.

it's a miracle

i hate painting my nails, mostly because i can't stand waiting for them to dry. i am an extremely impatient individual. so i heard about this from a youtube beauty video, though i cannot remember from who. Essie Drying Drops. this is a miraculous discovery for me. i know that OPI also makes a similar product, which i plan i trying after i finish this bottle of Essie. i do have one complaint about this product is that it leaves a rather strange white residue on my cuticle beds and gets everywhere!

however, i highly recommend trying a product like this (or this one).
