the chronicles of fatty: tavolino

though tucson is a small town, it has many hidden gems of god places to eat. a family favorite that i recently got to try for the first time was tavolino. it is a fine dining italian restaurant, and basically that means don't walk in your workout clothes--especially, if like me, you are a hot mess after a workout. anyways, it is pretty traditional italian food. some straightforward dishes like pasta bolognese and some more for the adventurous like squid ink pasta. yumm. the cocktails are delicious. dining here was a rather pleasant surprise, and a restaurant i would recommend to any visitors to tucson or tucson natives alike (of course, only if you haven't been or heard of it, my fellow tucsonians).

i took some snapshots of our dinner and they are below. something super important that i forgot to mention is that their bread is to die for. like if bread could be described as melting in your mouth, this bread would be it. omg, im drooling just thinking about it. must stop. now to photos. drool. drool. no, but really, stop.

though, this may look somewhat gross. it was delicious.

the chronicles of fatty: frost

frost is a gelato place that started in tucson, arizona and has spread throughout arizona, new mexico and CHICAGO! it is by far some of the best gelato i have ever had, with good reason. the main chef (would you call it  a chef?) was brought over from italy to teach the other employees and owners how to make the perfect gelato. i believe it has greatly paid off.

not only is the gelato delicious, but it wayyy healthier than ice cream--coming in at about 2.5 grams of fat per scoop versus 14 grams of fat in ice cream. not that it really matter to me, i go for taste value (and lucky for me, i really like salad. haha) anyways, if you can find one of these gems of a gelato shop, i highly recommend checking them out.

Jo, Jo, Jo [Malone], Merry Christmas

in a products i hate post, i talked about a Jo Malone fragrance that i didn't like that came in a set. however, all the other scents in the set i loved or liked. Jo Malone fragrances are expensive to say the least, but getting one of these sets that the company releases around Christmas time is perfect for testing some of the scents out on yourself to see whether or not one is worth the splurge. i actually planning on getting another set for this year. mwuaaaahahahahahaha. (i'm easily overexcited.)

my favorite scent from the set is wild bluebell. i WILL definitely be purchasing this full size. i love love love it so much. its a fresh floral scent (not really good at describing smells) and one worth checking out. SIDENOTE: for reference, some of my other favorite scents are flowerbomb and daisy.

my second favorite from the set is pomegranate noir. it's a nice musky scent that i am actually surprised i enjoy. another scent that i would seriously consider buying full size. this one is very hard to describe so check it out even if you don't like muskier scents.

grapefruit is a nice fresh scent that is great for the summertime and those warm nights while on vacation. its clean and crisp yet potent.

lastly in the scent is vanilla and anise, another good fall/winter scent. not something i am super excited about, but not something i'm willing to just forget about and not use. i am not really a huge fan of vanilla scents and anise is really something i greatly dislike. but if that's your jam, this is definitely one to check out.

again, its officially that time of year (especially since they are playing christmas music outside my window), JO JO JO [HO HO HO] MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

black friday craziness to come too!

candle crackhead #2.

i found a new candle to love and it's a lot less expensive than my other candle loves. PRAISE TARGET! this is by the brand caldera in the scent citron ginger. basically, it's in the same scent family (i'd call it) as the other candles that i consume on the reg (and that made me sound like i eat candles, EW). so if you are in the market for a nice smelling candle that lasts a while and you are perusing the aisles of target, because you can never just go into target for one thing and just walk out, ch-ch-ch-ch-check it out.

Dave's Chillin & Grillin.....Yummm

i love, love, love food. here's another recommendation of some of LA's best eats. this isn't one of those places that everyone knows about, unless you go to Occidental College or live in the Eagle Rock area. but if you are looking for an amazing sandwich, Dave's is the place to go. my favorite (see pic below) is the grilled cheese and hummus on rosemary bread. want another one just looking at this photo. #fatgirlproblems
