focus feature: maybelline the rocket mascara

i bought this mascara on a whim. i came home over christmas and brought a sample of fairy drops that i ended up hating. so i bought the rocket. i am still using this mascara, though i dont really like it all that much. it makes my lashes stick straight out and don't really give all that much volume, in my opinion. the worst part of it all is that my lashes feel dry after i take the mascara off. i cannot wait until this mascara dries up or ends, and i will not be buying this mascara again.

all read up: the hunger games-for those of us who are slow on the uptake

yes, i know. i am very, very late to this party. however, everyone made it seem like i would be devoting endless hours of my life to reading this book and that was all true. so i am glad that i waited because i wasted an entire day. now, i have only read the first book-SO DON'T TELL ME ANYTHING!!! I'm not going to go straight into the next book even though i would like to. i want to give my eyes that are already partially blind a break.

if you haven't read this book/series, you should. it is an easy read, quick and interesting. its no harry potter, meaning i may reread it once but not multiple times as i have already read the harry potter series twice and want to again. anyways, this post--as the title suggests--is for those of you who live under a rock.

the chronicles of fatty: frost

frost is a gelato place that started in tucson, arizona and has spread throughout arizona, new mexico and CHICAGO! it is by far some of the best gelato i have ever had, with good reason. the main chef (would you call it  a chef?) was brought over from italy to teach the other employees and owners how to make the perfect gelato. i believe it has greatly paid off.

not only is the gelato delicious, but it wayyy healthier than ice cream--coming in at about 2.5 grams of fat per scoop versus 14 grams of fat in ice cream. not that it really matter to me, i go for taste value (and lucky for me, i really like salad. haha) anyways, if you can find one of these gems of a gelato shop, i highly recommend checking them out.

the chronicles of fatty: zinburger

splitting my time between three cities if often tenuous. however, i get to enjoy really good food in all three. tucson, being my least favorite of my frequented places, does have a handful of really good places to eat. one of them being zinburger.

zinburger is a gourmet burger place, which offers options for vegans and vegetarians as well as carnivores. their burgers are juicy and delicious. they have amazing parmesan zucchini fries, but their regular and sweet potato fries are just average. they also have amazing milkshakes, its no fred 62s--for all you LA people--but a limited selection. each week, they offer a different special burger, and each month, a special shake flavor.

i would recommend zinburger to anyone traveling to tucson--and if you are traveling to tucson, i am sorry. its a rather small town. not my favorite--or to anyone from here who hasn't eaten there yet.

excessive tendencies: 4 or more

this is a tag video that has been going around youtube, which i have enjoyed watching. so i thought, i would go ahead and make it into a blog post. i thought it would be an interesting blog post, because you get to see the products that i and other people have multiples of. in my mind, having multiples of one type of object means that you really like it. thus, the reason i liked to do this post. however, after taking the photos, it actually made me realize that i just have way too much stuuuf. nonetheless, i thought that since i went through the trouble with the photos that i would create this post anyways.

focus feature: champneys

i love scrubs. having dry skin, i feel the need to exfoliate frequently to help my skin drink up moisturizer easier. i heard some good things about this brand and their scrubs from a few youtubers, so i thought i would pick it up and try it--since its sold at target and not really expensive.

i loved this scrub in the shower. it was thick and full of exfoliator beads. i felt that it really did its job as an exfoliator. however, it left a real sticky feeling film on my skin. then i ended up i hating it. it was so obnoxious that i had to shower again to get it off. so for future notice, bathe twice to get off all the filmy residue. it did do a good job, but i would not repurchase it because i really hated the residue.

empties #2: home for the holidays edition

1. Aveeno Pure Renewal Conditioner- I bought this conditioner because it was marketed as sulfate-free. Now after doing much more research into sulfate-free haircare, I have found that many conditioners are sulfate-free. I was not really impressed with this conditioner. It was watery in consistency and did not moisturize my hair. I went through the bottle in about six washes because I had to use so much product to feel like I was getting moisture in my hair, and in the end, it didn’t do all that much. Glad that I have found other conditioners that I like better that contain no sulfates, because I will not repurchase this conditioner.

2. Philosophy Purity Cleanser- this tends to get quite a bit of hate sometimes in the beauty community because its called purity but has a shit ton of chemicals in it. BUT, I still really like. I probably would never buy the full size bottle because it would take me ages and ages to get through it, and I like to switch things up. I will definitely repurchase this face cleanser. It felt as though it was really cleansing my skin, and my face felt refreshed after using it.

3. Colure True Color Care Richly Moisture Conditioner- a while back, I dyed my hair red. My stylist recommended this line of products to help keep the red color in my hair. I am now back to blonde, but still enjoy this line of haircare. It smells amazing. Fruity and tropical and the smell lingers in your hair. This conditioner is watery in consistency, but moisturizes your hair nonetheless. It is on the expensive side at $25 for this small bottle. I would repurchase this product but not in the recent future. I have found other sulfate-free products that are much cheaper. But I will really miss this product for its wonderful smell.

4. Rivage Shower Gel in Cool- this is something that I bought while in Jordan. It is from a dead sea mineral product and line, Rivage, which is a French company that has rights to dead sea minerals to create these products. I find that having really dry skin, dead sea body washes tend to leave a bit more moisture into my skin-at least the ones that were in the hotel bathrooms. However, I do not feel as though this body wash was a good as those. I was super disappointed with this product. The smell was awful. It smelled like a grandma product. Now I do not mean that in an offensive way, but it was something that I feel like my grandma would have enjoyed the smell of. All in all, I would not repurchase this item.

5. Slatkin & Co Frosted Cranberry Candle- this was my first slatkin and co candle, and my favorite out of all the Christmas scents. I found many of them to be something that was either too sickly sweet or too musky. I find that I am very picky when it comes to candle scents. I tend to stay within the same vein of scents, and I tend to buy the same ones over and over again.

6. Bath & Body Works Paris Daydream Candle- I love Paris (shocking) and when I saw this candle, I had to have it. On top of it, it smelled absolutely amazing. Very much a scent that I would repurchase. I hope that B&BW keeps these city themes candles around, because I also purchased the London candle-which was tea and lemon scented!

7. Fairy Drops (Sample)- I hated this mascara. At first I really liked the way it made my lashes look, but after the first use, my opinion went downhill. I think it was one of those fiber mascaras because there was all kinda little hairs sticking off the brush. It was also one of those brushes that kinda looks like continuing figure eights, if that make any sense, made putting on mascara to my bottom lashes really difficult. This was the only mascara I brought home for the holidays, and because I hated so much I had to go out and buy another one.
