all read up: in the garden of beasts

hello there! long time no write, i know. but the holidays and sickness plague this time of year so dont get your panties in a bunch, because i AM back.

anyways, over break i really wanted to focus on reading but i didnt have as much time as i thought i would for leisurely activities. we had family friends from australia visit and i got the flu. icky. so reading wasnt at the top of my to-do list. however, i did finally finish in the garden of beasts by erik larson. unfortunately, i didnt think the book was all that interesting. i love learning about WWII because it teaches us so much about humanity and the horrendous tragedies that people can do to one another. the book did give insight into the american ideas of hitler's germany, but it was very uninteresting. i found that it focused on very much the undertakings and activities of the US ambassadors daughter more than anything else, and she was not very interesting.

it was a tough read that i really had to focus on reading because it was slow and didnt engage me in the narrative. anyways, if you are interested in WWII, i do suggest you read it. there are some interesting aspects and it isnt very long. but not something i would seek out.
